Implant Secrets

The most up-to-date and ideal treatment method for missing teeth is dental implants. Although implant is a very useful and comfortable option, it is a relatively long treatment. Although there are treatments that are completed in a single session called immediate implant in recent years, it is a treatment process that includes certain stages that usually last between 3-6 months.

The most important of the implant treatment stages and the most important factor that directly determines the process is the examination. Patients who apply to the dentist to have their missing teeth done are evaluated by the dentist. First of all, oral hygiene is required to be at a high level. If not, treatments to improve oral hygiene are performed. The suitability of the bone tissue in the area where the implant is planned is examined. X-ray images are helpful at this stage. Especially tomography is preferred in terms of showing bone thickness. If the bone is not sufficient, it can be increased to a sufficient level with some surgical procedures such as sinus lifting, grafting, bone augmentation before the implant.

Is the patient suitable for implant application?

For example, patients undergoing radiotherapy to the head and neck region cannot be implanted. Implant treatment cannot be performed on young people with incomplete bone development. Implant treatment cannot be performed without the permission of the relevant doctor in people with conditions such as diabetes, heart disease, high blood pressure. In other words, first of all, the person should not be an obstacle to this treatment.

Successful results cannot be obtained if implants are implanted in unsuitable people. The implant may not hold, it may cause destruction in the bone, and the healing process may not take place.

Treatment Planning

What will be done to the patient? OK implant, but what will come on it? Treatment planning changes everything about the treatment. Everything from the number of implants, duration of treatment to the money to be paid is related to treatment planning. For example, for someone who has no teeth in his mouth, a removable prosthesis with at least two implants can be made, or a fixed prosthesis can be planned by placing an implant in place of each missing tooth. If there is aesthetic concern and purpose in single tooth deficiencies, for example, if it is a tooth in the anterior region, the treatment planning will be different; it will be different for a molar in the posterior region.

Surgical Phase, How is the implant made?

The answer to the question of how the implant is made includes mostly the surgical stage. After it is decided to implant as a result of the examination, the surgical stage is started. The surgical stage consists of placing the implant into the jawbone. The surgical stage can be performed by the dentist himself or by a maxillofacial surgeon. In the surgical stage, the relevant area is anaesthetised and the implant is placed inside the jawbone and covered. The procedure is briefly as follows; the gum on the bone is removed, a socket is prepared in the bone, the implant is placed and the gum is sewn again. It is that simple. This procedure takes approximately 5-15 minutes for each implant. The surgical phase is usually a simple procedure under local anaesthesia.  For example, it is much simpler, faster and painless than a root canal treatment that takes a few sessions, porcelain teeth, etc. Having an implant is definitely easier than having a root canal treatment, both in terms of time and comfort.

After the surgical procedures are completed, it is necessary to wait for a certain period of time for the implant to fuse with the jawbone. Depending on the technique applied, the implant should remain in the jawbone for 2-6 months. Because the implants need to be connected to the jawbone one-to-one. This is called osseointegration. This concept is directly related to the success of the implant. The time to wait for osseointegration after the implant is applied varies according to the region and technique applied.

In some techniques, there is no need to wait, the teeth are made immediately and the procedure is completed in a single session. This technique is called immediate implant technique. The success of the surgical stage is directly related to sterilisation. The environment must be sterile. The first few days after surgery are very important. There are things to pay attention to. Ice application, eating and drinking issues, medications if necessary, etc. Oral hygiene is very important for recovery after surgery. Maximum oral hygiene in line with the dentist`s instructions is a must.

Choosing the best dental clinics

It`s important to provide serious thought and conduct extensive research before selecting the top dental clinics for your care. Begin by searching for clinics that have a solid reputation, as attested to by the endorsements and favorable evaluations of past clients. Verify that the clinic complies with international safety and hygiene standards and is accredited by the appropriate dental associations. Check the credentials and expertise of the dentists who work there, and seek for facilities that use cutting edge equipment and contemporary methods. Clear information regarding fees and included services should be provided by respectable clinics. Transparent pricing and thorough treatment plans are also crucial. Take into account the degree of individualized treatment and communication as well. Make sure the clinic personnel is able to successfully handle your problems and is responsive.

Best Dental Clinics

Which brand to choose

First of all, all implants on the market are made of titanium. they are all sterile packaged and of course disposable. they all have certain certificates and approvals. all products of each brand, except for under the stairs brands, are registered in the product tracking system of the ministry of health.

Unfortunately, this classification is not written on the box of the implant and the class distinction is not very clear, so there is no completely scientific classification. implants other than 1 class brands are not used in good clinics. although the prices are different, they can all be said to be good.

The brand quality of implants is basically determined by criteria such as history, brand awareness, scientific studies about them, surface structure, surface cleaning.

The brands in the leading class are generally considered the best implants because they have been experienced by many physicians, have long-term clinical follow-up and, most importantly, have been the subject of numerous scientific studies. These brands are mainly Astra, Nobel, Straummann, Biomet 3i, Mis.

The implant brands in the second category are not as old as the first ones, but they are very successful and are preferred by many physicians. Their prices are somewhat more favourable than the leading class. We cannot say that they are absolutely indistinguishable in terms of quality, but these implants are also very high quality. The main brands to be counted in this category are implants such as Ankylos, xive, bego, biohorizon, camlog, icx, nucleus.

Why a known brand should be preferred

For example, your dentist has made an implant that is not in the leading class but is very well branded. The implant was originally produced in Germany, but the distributor company had the implant interconnection parts produced in a third party factory in order to reduce the cost. Although the implant is intact, the implant has to be removed because the interconnection part is broken. This would be a great loss of prestige and a great torment for the patient.

Such problems are rarely experienced in leading class implants. Again, for example, after 10 years, the screw of your implant broke and you cannot reach the physician you had it done. If this implant is a leading class brand, you can easily find that part of it and have it done by another physician. However, if it is an unknown brand, you may not even be able to find that company, let alone your physician.

The price of the implant does not give information about its quality. in other words, we cannot say that a more expensive implant is better. your physician may be selling it at an expensive price. the cost in that clinic may be higher because it is bought in small numbers. for example, there are a few domestic brands, definitely better quality and cheaper than many brands. almost half the price but they have world-class production quality.

The country where the implants are produced gives absolutely no information about the quality of the implants and can even be misleading, so that some brands are misleading by having production and packaging in different countries. definitely the country should not be a criterion, this is the biggest misconception.

So what will you choose according to?

* Firstly, do not believe the internet adverts. Do not pass by a clinic that says "German implant 500 dollars". Good clinic does not sell the country, it sells itself.

* If your physician starts with the country, wish a good day immediately.

* If the implant company appears in the first place in google, if there is a good website, if there are articles about it on the sites, you can choose.

* If your physician and his team are good, the result will always be good. even if things go wrong, your physician will try to offer you the best treatments.

* Expensive brand does not guarantee a good treatment.

Implant prices

In the treatment of tooth deficiency with dental implants, the implant brand is not the most important but the least important element of the total treatment. unfortunately, some dentists have directed patients to search for implant brands. as if they do everything very well from surgery to bonding, they direct the patient only to the choice of implant brand. so-and-so brand this price so-and-so brand that price this price this good that bad. so is the best treatment done when you choose the best brand? of course not.

* Most important is the general health and bone condition of the patient. if it is not suitable for the implant, it cannot be done.

* Is the surgical stage. a suitable implant should be placed as successfully as possible.

* Is the prosthesis stage. the form, shape and material of the tooth to be applied on the implant should be ideal.

* The tooth should be replaced with an application that does not damage the gums, surrounding tissues and implant.

Let`s turn to known implant brands, but let`s not spend hours on the internet between brands.

Today, there is almost no difference between implant brands. they all go through certain scientific tests and come to the market by obtaining certain certificates. as long as there are known brands, you can at least be comfortable with the brand.

If your physician is good, he will explain all these to you in detail and almost leave you no choice. the important thing is the physician.

Differences between domestic implants and imported implants

Today, there is no difference between domestic implants and imported implants. with the developing technology, all of them are almost at the same level. The difference now consists of the pricing of the brand. From domestic implants; brands such as nucleoss, implance, bilimplant, omnitech, evoss, dti are very high quality. The implant brand is the least important element of this job.

The bone will be good, the patient will take good care, the physician will plan well, the surgical stage will be good, it will heal well and finally a very, very good superstructure tooth will be made. each of these is much more important than the implant brand. after all, all implants are steric titanium alloy screws. it`s that simple. Be sure that the brand is not to blame for a failed implant procedure.

Things to Consider After Implant Surgery

Following the surgery, i.e. after the implants have been placed and the sutures have been removed, the following should be taken into consideration. In fact, these are the same as the list of things to be considered after tooth extraction.

* Bite the tampon in your mouth for 30-40 minutes.

* If your physician has recommended ice application, which is necessary to minimise swelling, pay attention to ice application for 48 hours. Keep the ice on your cheek in the surgical area for 10 minutes and pull it out for 10 minutes. Thus, swelling will be very little or even absent.

* Do not eat anything until the numbness passes. You can drink water.

* Never spit, gargle or rinse for 1 day.

* Do not smoke or drink alcohol for 1 day after the surgical procedure.

* You can brush your teeth after 1 day.

* Be careful to avoid extremely hot, spicy and fizzy foods and drinks for the first few days following the operation.

* You can use blood thinners and external painkillers for mild pain. Use the medicines prescribed by your doctor regularly.

* You can have your stitches removed after 7-10 days.

How many days does the implant heal?

We can evaluate the healing process after the implant in two stages.

The first is the healing of the gum and its surroundings, which is fast. After 1 week following the operation, healing is provided until the stitches are removed. Of course, oral hygiene is very important.

After the surgery, slight swelling may be seen in the implant placement area. To minimise this, the patient is asked to apply ice to that area. Small doses of painkillers can also be used for mild tingling. The physician may prescribe antibiotics, painkillers and mouthwashes. These medicines should be used regularly.

The second is the process in which the implant placed in the jawbone becomes a whole with the bone and the bone holds the implant tightly. This process called osseointegration takes 2-6 months depending on the procedure performed. The healing process of the implant under the gum and in the bone does not depend on the patient except oral hygiene. After the surgical stage, a period of time is waited for osseointegration, that is, for the bone to fully fuse with the implant. During this period, the patient does not feel the presence of the implant. The patient continues his/her daily life.

Prosthetic Stage of Implant

The stage that the patient sees in implant treatment is prosthesis. In other words, the prosthesis stage is the last stage of the treatment, which is the artificial tooth to be placed on the implant in the jawbone. The prosthetic stage is foreseen from the beginning and how the implant will be made is shaped accordingly. If a single-stage implant is not performed, the implant is waited for 2-6 months after the surgical stage and the implant is opened again and a gingiva former (gum shaper, healing cap) is placed on the implant to shape the gum.

The healing cap is used to make the prosthetic tooth look natural as if it is coming from inside the gum, just like real teeth. The insertion of the healing cap is a very simple procedure and can be done with a mild anaesthetic, sometimes even without anaesthesia. The gum on the implant is cut as small as possible and the healing cap is screwed onto the implant. It takes 4-10 days for the gum to take shape. Then the healing cap shaping the gum is removed, measurements are taken and the teeth are made. This process takes approximately 1 week.

In some treatment plans, the implant is left to heal by attaching a healing cap during the surgical phase. This technique may not always be applied, but if it is done, it saves the physician and the patient from one stage. In other words, there is no need to cut that area again after 3 months and place the healing cap and wait for the gum to take shape because the gum has already formed during the process. Without any anaesthesia and incision, the healing cap is removed like a screw and the impression is taken directly. With this technique, how the implant will be made, i.e. whether the gingiva former will be attached or not, is at the discretion of the physician according to the treatment plan.
